Menu and Contents | The ‘Flower Festival’ is held every year on the Sunday directly before the 8th of April. ‘Ippaimeshi’ (bowl of rice) refers to the bamboo shoot steamed rice that is given to anyone who visits the temple.It is said that if you eat this you will not only be able to avoid disasters in your lifetime, but will also be able to enter paradise after death. |

Description
The temple is called the ‘Koyasan of Kanto’ and is built in the mountains surrounded by steep cliffs.It is said to have been founded by Gyoki Shonin in 714 and flourished as a place of mountain temple worship. The view from the Seishin-tei tea house on top of the cliff walls has been depicted in Hokusai’s ‘Hanging-cloud Bridge’. Designated as the prefecture’s first scenic spot in 1975.
