Strolling through Nishi-ward: Tobe Catholic Church



There is the only Catholic church in Nishi-ward is located at a corner of quiet residential street, which is on the same side of main gate of Tobe Elementary School. The church was built August in 1952 and it belongs to Piarists, headquartered in Spain.



First rector was Father Perez. Now Head Priest is Father Lumbrales and Assistant Priest is Father Perea. Piarists is especially focusing on education and they are involved in missionary actively all over the world.



They operate Escolapios Kaisei Catholic Junior & Senior High School in Yokkaichi city Mie Prefecture. Fathers born in Spain like to play soccer but this high school is famous for its prestigious record of baseball club.
