Strolling through Nishi-ward: Famous Bridge in Nishi-ward "Kasumi Bridge"
I once counted a number of bridges in Nishi-ward, but if other bridges like bridge over railway and overpass including big and small and new and old, the number would be way bigger.
This is Kasuim Bridge crossed over Kuboyama in Nishi-ward. At the end of the bridge is Minami-ward, so the bridge is crossed over ward boundary. It is said that the bridge is one of “100 Best Bridges in Kanagawa”. Indeed, it has beautiful shape and elegant atmosphere. There used to be Route 7 of municipal railway bound for “Urafune-cho” under the bridge in the past.
You can see marks of removed street lamp on four corners of parapets which was engraved “Completed in Showa 3”. I imagine the old days when they were lighted up brightly. At the foot of the bridge on its Minami-ward side, there is a memorial monument to celebrate the birth of emperor. It was Showa 9. Also, a famous Uchikoshi Bridge in Naka-ward was built in the same year as Tasumi Bridge.
