Strolling through Nishi-ward: Tripled Luck with Triple Jizo in Fujidana
Festival fair at Fujidana is one of features of summer. It enshrines Higiri Jizo. There is a hall near the gate of Ganjoji temple to enshrine the Jizo. It remains since Tokugawa shogunate era. By the way, did you know that there are two more Jizo enshrined in the hall?
The one has been placed in the corner of Fujidana crossing since long ago and it has pillow on one side of the face. The Jizo is also called Kitanuki Jizo and it was standing alone on burned ground after Great Kanto earthquake. It looked very poor, so the Jizo was welcomed and enshrined at the hall. The other Jizo is from Ganki-yokocho Street, was also burned out and later enshrined here. So in total, there are three Jizo enshrined at the hall.
I’m not sure if there are triple Jizo, your luck would be tripled. But I often see not only old people but also young ladies praying heartily and offering incense and flowers.
