Strolling through Nishi-ward: Kangyoji Temple associated with Kond? Isami

This area faces old Tokai-do Road and Kanjo No-1 is running nearby. Metropolitan Expressway Mitsuzawa Line runs over its head throughout the hill on the back. Even though, this area is surrounded by lots of trees and is very quiet and peaceful. It is also a sanctuary for little birds.

The temple is called Hokke shu gakuyosan Kangyoji. It was founded by Mitsuzawa Bugenji Kayo? at Echigo Honjoji. The principal object of worship is great mandala and Gautama Buddha and Prabhutaratna were placed on the side. There are other interesting points in the temple. There is a grave of Kondo Kuranosuke Nagahiro, who is a founder of Tennen Rishin-ry?. Commander of the Shinsengumi Kond? Isami is his fourth generation. There is a grave of Doshuo, who created Suisyafune, which I believe is a side-wheel ship. A waka to honor his achievement written by feudal lord of Mito Domain was engraved. There is a grave of famous novelist T?ma Kitabayashi and his wife in the temple.
