Strolling through Nishi-ward: Harano Ibotori Jizo (wart-removing Jizo)

When you go up a slope from Sengenshita and turn left, you will find “Hara no Ojizo-san”. When Hokke shu Bugenji in Mitsuzawa Nishi-cho was flourishing, there was a school for Buddhist monk called “Mitsuzawa Danrin”. There used to be 300 monks learning at the school at one point. It is said that this area is junction of Danrin road, which derived from the school, Kitsune-zaka and Gengoro-zaka.

It is said that Jizo in the temple has miraculous efficacy against wart-removing and if you bring back a small stone in front of the main hall and scrub your swart with it, the swart will be immediately removed. Those who successfully removed their swart return the small stone and offer incense and flowers.

Even though they were worn out, there are three Jizo wearing brand-new bibs and windmills accompanied turn around by early summer breeze.
