Strolling through Nishi-ward: Pondering history and future of bicycle

I thought Yokohama Port Museum in Minato Mirai 21 is the only museum located in Nishi-ward. However, I found out “Yokohama Bicycle Museum” in Hanasaki-cho on my walk.

There are a number of different kinds of museum all over Japan. Among them, there are some unique ones including Kite Museum (Tokyo), Koma-inu Museum (Gifu) and Japan Footwear Museum (Hiroshima). I would say that “Yokohama Bicycle Museum” is also a unique museum.

Appearance of the building is designed like a wheel. On top of that, the layout of the museum is very interesting. There are three floors and each floor has different exhibition of past, present and future of bicycle. Anyway, bicycle is very humorous and single-heartedness of the people who invented bicycle is heartwarming.
