Onko Chishin! Trek-trek Sketch in Nishi-ward: Pukarisanbashi Pier
After passing PACIFICO Yokohama plaza located in seaside of Minatomirai area, you will find “Pukarisanbashi Pier”. It’s a cute passenger terminal with clock tower like a lighthouse attached to its green roof.
This is a very popular spot for sketching and oil painting as it’s picturesque with Yokohama port on the back.
It was opened in 1991 (Heisei 3) and its official name is “Minatomirai Pier/Marine Passenger Terminal”. It was the first floating type pier in Japan, so when you stand on the pier, you feel motions as if you were on board ship floating.
There are ticket counter and waiting room at the first floor of the terminal and second floor is a restaurant on the water.
At the right side of the pier, many water-buses, which are regular liners of “Sea Bus” were coming and going to Yokohama station east exit, Red Brick Warehouse and Yamashita Park in addition to cruise ships “Marine Rouge” and “Marine Shuttle”.
It is especially busy on holidays as charter ships are running too.
