Onko Chishin! Trek-trek Sketch in Nishi-ward: Hamamirai Walk
“Hamamirai Walk” is a pedestrian bridge where many people cross when they go to Minato Mirai area from East Exit of Yokohama station.
When you go to second floor space between Sogo Yokohama and Yokohama Sky Building, you can see Sea Bus station and high-rise apartments on your left. Sometimes you can smell salty air making you feel that Yokohama port is just around the corner.
Turning right, you will find a cool bridge called “Hamamirai Walk” over Katabira River. The bridge is 101.5 meters long and 10.4 meters wide and was opened to traffic in July 2009 (Heisei 21). It has curved roof on one side of the bridge so that people can cross without getting wet in the rain.
When you cross the bridge, you will get to NISSAN Walk, which is inside building of NISSAN Global Headquarters. First floor is NISSAN Gallery where gorgeous automobiles are displayed. Getting out of the building and passing Minatomirai Pedestrian Bridge, you will find landscape of a group of buildings in Minato Mirai area, which is expected to develop even further in the future.
