Onko Chishin! Trek-trek Sketch in Nishi-ward: Yokohama Prefectural Hiranuma High School
Going out of Yokohama West Exit, which is always busy with shoppers, passing Minamisaiwai bridge and heading to Okano direction. Passing a movie theater “MOVIL” and going under an overpass in main street and walking for a while, you will find Yokohama Prefectural Hiranuma High School, which is the only high school in Nishi-ward.
It has a long history and was authorized its foundation in 1900 (Meiji 33) and known as “Prefectural First Girl’s High School” but now its co-educated school.
Some famous people graduated from this high school including actress Keiko Kishi, who is famous for her role as Mariko from an old melodrama produced by Shochiku movie “Kimi no na wa (Your Name)” and actress Mitsuko Kusabue, who was a TV show host, singer and dancer of “Mitsuko’s Window” which was music variety show produced by Nippon Television. I used to adore their beauty like a foreigner.
You can see many banners of club activities hanging down from the school windows such as broadcasting club, Karuta club, dance club and women’s handball club with their remarkable achievements.
I’m glad to know that they’re working hard.
