Onko Chishin! Trek-trek Sketch in Nishi-ward: Kuboyama Cemetery
Kuboyama Cemetery will be filled with people during Obon and Ohigan period when people visit their family graves. Most of them came from Nishi-yokohama station of Sotetsu Line and Kuboyama Bus stop. It is a municipal cemetery built in 1874 (Meiji 7). There is a temple cemetery next to it. There are many graves as far as you can see.
There is a cemetery for those who were injured and passed away during Boshin War. There are graves of famous people who have some connection with Yokohama including Kanb? Yoshida who developed Yoshida new field and Tomitar? Hara who opened Sankeien Garden.
This place is one of my favorite walking trails. From the top of the cemetery, you can have a wide-angle view of Nishi ward from Hodogaya area to West exit of Yokohama station. When you go to the side of Ochaya shop, you can see Mt. ?yama, Tanzawa Mountains and even beautiful Mt. Fuji. Since you cannot see mountains in the city because of tall buildings, I come to this place when I want to see Mt. Fuji on a sunny day.
