Description
Onko Chishin! Trek-trek Sketch in Nishi-ward: Former Yokohama Dock Co., Ltd. Dock No.1
Getting off at JR Negishi Line Sakuragicho station and walking toward the Minato Mirai 21, you will see the Sail Training ship Nippon Maru which came back to Yokohama after 54 years of service. The place where the ship is moored its white body is called Dock No.1 (Important Cultural Property Designated by the National Government). Next to the Yokohama Landmark Tower, you will find Dock No.2 on ground (not in the water).
There once was a huge shipyard with many docks here. Since the completion of the shipyard in1898 (Meiji 31), thousands of ships had been repaired here. Now, located at the entrance of the Minato Mirai 21, this dock spectacularly welcomes many tourists visiting Yokohama with her beautiful sails open.
