Description
It was built in Meiji 7 (1874) as the first public graveyard in Yokohama.
Many souls rest in piece here, including Kanbe Yoshida who focused on developing new farm lands, and Tomitarou Hara who built Sankeien.
In the vast graveyard with total area of roughly 100,000 square meters, there are government-sanctioned graveyard enshrining victims of the Boshin War, and a communal site for those passed away in the Great Kanto Earthquake.
