Description
Founded in Hakuho 3 (652). It is an old shrine worshipping a divided spirit of Okuninushi no Mikoto, the principal god of Izumo Taisha Shrine.
In front of the koma inu (dog statue) at the entrance to the shrine is a pair of stone statues of mice holding mullets of luck. The statues were made to commemorate the 1350th anniversary of its founding, using a god’s ambassador who nurtured merits by serving Okuninushi no Mikoto as a motif.
Also within the premises is a Japanese elm tree that has been designated an Old Tree of Historical Interest by the City of Yokohama.
